The March/April issue of Pilates Style magazine includes a review of STOTT PILATES’ Strong & Streamlined: Pilates Matwork level 4 DVD. The video is recommended for intermediate to advanced exercisers, as it focuses “on combining advanced techniques with flow.”

Spanish speaking pilates fans will be thrilled to learn that STOTT PILATES is translating the first three titles in its training manual library. Just as its English counterparts, the Spanish manuals will illustrate every movement in the STOTT PILATES repertoire, and feature the same detailed, step-by-step instructions for each exercise using anatomical terminology, with countless variations and modifications included. The first title, Ejercicios completos sobre colchoneta [Comprehensive Matwork] is estimated to arrive in June 2006. Essential and Intermediate Reformer manuals will follow.

Hip Rolls with Toning Balls


WARM UP FIRST

Remember to start your workout with a warm-up.
Read these important cautions

STARTING POSITION

1 LYING ON BACK. Toning Balls underneath arches of feet with feet hip-distance apart. Spine neutral, neither arched nor flattened. Arms by sides.

EXERCISE

INHALE to prepare, then...

2 EXHALE Keeping Toning Balls stationary underneath feet, start from tailbone and slowly peel spine off mat, until hips are lifted and weight is resting between shoulder blades. Do not place weight on head.

3 INHALE Hold position, keeping hips lifted and abdominals tight.

4 EXHALE Start from top of spine and slowly return to mat, lowering to starting position.

Complete 5-8 repetitions
