In the News

In an article about celebrity fitness regimes, Self magazine's April issue revealed the secret behind Madonna's great body: "She runs and bikes, but pilates keeps her tight."

FIT magazine's May article 15 Minute Pilates features a mat-based workout for the time-pressed pilates enthusiast, with step-by-step instructions for performing seven key exercises such as Leg Circles and the Mermaid.


The April issue of Women's Health magazine revealed the truth behind the myth that pilates lengthens muscles. "Pilates tones lean muscle tissue, which makes muscles appear longer."

Can-Fit-Pro magazine's March/April issue spotlighted the Toning Ball DVD series and credited STOTT PILATES with the Toning Ball's comeback: "...the Toning Ball's popularity skyrocketed when STOTT PILATES teamed up with Kellogg Canada... "


In its May issue, Fitness magazine featured a workout combining pilates with yoga and tai chi to boost energy, improve strength and sculpt muscles.

Also featured is a profile on actress and model, Molly Sims, whose ab-sculpting secret is doing "Five killer [pilates] exercises back to back called the Stomach Series. It starts with the Hundred and ends with Scissors."

April's Fitness Management magazine included an article on group fitness and highlighted some of the industry's favorite group exercise accessories.

STARTING POSITION

1 LYING ON BACK. Feet on mat, hip-distance apart. Spine is in a neutral position, neither arched nor flattened. Toning Balls underneath hands.


EXERCISE

2 INHALE Nod head slightly
[not pictured]

3 EXHALE Curl upper body off mat without pressing lower back into floor and simultaneously roll balls toward feet.


EXERCISE cont'd

4 INHALE Hold position.

5 EXHALE Return to starting position, while rolling balls back.

Complete 5-8 repetitions
