Set your VCRs and join Moira Merrithew for a daily workout... We’re very excited to announce that our new television program STOTT PILATES with Moira, executively produced by Lindsay G. Merrithew, and starring Moira, will premiere June 2 at 7:30pm throughout Canada on WTSN, the Women's Television Sports Network. The show is a 13-part, 30-minute fitness series and will air on consecutive days at 7:30 pm ET through Sunday, June 15. Each episode will be repeated the following morning at 8:30 am ET and 11 am ET.

Swimming
STARTING POSITION
Lying on stomach, pelvis and spine neutral. Legs extended along mat, hip-distance apart and slightly turned outward, toes gently pointed. Arms extended overhead along mat, shoulder-distance apart, palms down, scapulae stabilized.

EXERCISE
To prepare, inhale...

EXHALE maintain lumbar and pelvis neutral, and extend upper spine and hips, reaching arms and legs off mat.

Then…

INHALE for 5 counts. Reach one arm and opposite leg higher while lowering
other arm and leg, and alternate movement with each count.

EXHALE for 5 counts. Continue reciprocal swimming action.

Complete 3-5 sets.

To finish…

INHALE lengthen arms and legs to halt motion.

EXHALE lower upper body, arms and legs to mat.

FOCUS
--
Slide scapulae down to prevent overusing upper back/trapezius.
-- Use full five counts to breathe.
-- Reach fingertips away from toes, using opposition to help stabilize torso.
-- Create fluttering quality of movement with arms and legs.
-- Maintain same degree of extension in upper spine throughout.
-- Maintain hamstring, gluteal and abdominal contraction to stabilize and prevent pelvis from rocking and/or tilting back or laterally.
