STARTING POSITION
Sit upright with pelvis and spine neutral. Legs are long and apart, slightly wider than shoulder-distance, feet are flexed. Arms reach out to sides with palms forward.

EXERCISE
INHALE twist upper torso to one side, keeping pelvis still and reaching arms to corners.
EXHALE roll forward from head, sequentially articulating spine, reach front arm toward baby toe as back arm rotates so palm faces backward and reaches to back corner. Maintain eye-focus straight down. Pelvis remains vertical.

INHALE contract abs and slide scapulae down as back arm reaches behind, rolling up through spine and sequentially articulating out of flexion from tail to reestablish vertical/neutral.
EXHALE twist spine to face forward. Back arm rotates laterally on return to starting position, with palms facing forward.
Complete 5-8 repetitions
|
FOCUS
Keep spine vertical during rotation, pelvis vertical throughout.
Ensure engagement of transversus abdominis throughout.
Avoid gripping quadriceps or hip flexors.
Resist opposite hip down to mat during flexion.
Keep front of shoulder girdle open during medial rotation of back arm.
