STARTING POSITION
Lying on your stomach, pelvis and spine neutral with head turned to one side. Legs together and parallel, knees straight, toes gently pointed. Hands resting behind back as high as is comfortable, shoulders relaxed forward.

EXERCISE
To prepare INHALE, then..
EXHALE stabilize pelvis and bend both knees three times with controlled pulses.
INHALE straighten knees, keeping legs together. Turn legs out, externally rotate and separate legs shoulder-width apart, opening front of hip.
Simultaneously slide scapulae down back and extend thoracic/upper spine (lumbar/lower spine may extend if strong enough to stabilize pelvis). Lengthen arms and reach toward feet with palms facing body.

To transition into next repetition: start to exhale turning head to one side as upper body and legs lengthen down onto mat. Simultaneously, bring legs parallel and together before bending knees.
Complete 4-6 repetitions to each side.
To finish: EXHALE then upper body, arms and legs down onto mat.
FOCUS
-- maintain abdominal, gluteal and hamstring contraction
--to prevent pelvis tilting forward during pulse of legs
-- relax upper body and neck
-- maintain smooth and fluid movement
