.In the News |
The October issue of Fitness Trainer Canada chose STOTT PILATES for their Supplier Profile.
This same issue features an article co-written by Lindsay and Moira, entitled Tapping the Aging Market.
Cooking Light magazine reviewed the 22-Minute Matwork video and has this to say about it: If youre intrigued by the idea of pilates but find it intimidating, this beginners video is an excellent primer.
The November issue of Oxygen Magazine consulted with Moira for a feature, on stands in late September.

We are proud to have been made the official BOSU* pilates training provider worldwide.
Flat on one side and domed on the other, the unstable nature of the BOSU** Trainer makes it an ideal tool for establishing and reinforcing balance, stability and proprioception while you gain core strength. The BOSU** (which stands for both sides up) facilitates a wide spectrum of static and dynamic exercises that require you to maintain your center of gravity in all planes of movement.
As well as offering this exciting new piece of equipment, we have filmed two new videos and developed two workshops to allow you to perform and teach exercises performed on the versatile BOSU**.
Watch this space for news of their arrival. |

.Exercise of the Month |
ROLL OVER find photos below
STARTING POSITION
Supine, imprinted position. Legs on diagonal. Arms long by sides, palms down, scapulae stabilized.
EXERCISE
INHALE flex at hips to hinge legs toward torso.
EXHALE sequentially articulate spine through flexion off mat, one vertebra at a time, from tailbone to upper thoracic area, reaching legs overhead, parallel to mat. Allow legs to lower with control by flexing hips further so toes touch mat if possible. Rest weight across scapulae, not on cervical spine.
INHALE lift legs parallel to mat and abduct slightly wider than
shoulder-distance apart.
|
EXHALE sequentially articulate spine down to mat from thoracic to tail. Once stable, imprinted spine attained, reach legs out on diagonal as low as possible, maintaining imprint, and adduct legs.
Complete 6-8 repetitions altogether: 3-4 rolling over with legs adducted and rolling down with legs abducted; 3-4 rolling over with legs abducted and rolling down with legs adducted.
FOCUS
-- avoid pressure, tension or pain in cervical spine
-- articulate so each vertebra peels off mat sequentially during roll over and makes contact separately during roll down
-- roll spine off mat so that weight rests only on thoracic spine, not on your neck
-- use abdominals to achieve spinal articulation, instead of throwing weight of legs overhead and tensing shoulders on roll down
-- stabilize scapulae throughout roll over and roll down
-- once spinal flexion is established with legs parallel to mat, flex hips and lengthen hamstrings to lower toes toward mat rather than rolling onto your neck
